Badass of the Year Award

Badass of the Year Award 2007It was brought to my attention recently a story that took place in November of 2007. Pauline Jacobi, age 92 at the time, got into her car after grocery shopping. A man jumped in next to her and told her to give him all her money. He threatened to shoot her with his gun if she didn’t. She said, “No.” Three times she said, “No.” Then she said, “If you kill me, I’m going straight to heaven. If you kill me, you’re going to hell.” She followed it with a series of questions and ministry. Looking at his eyes, she could sense a sadness that followed him. They talked for 12 minutes about how Jesus can save him, even if he doesn’t think he’s worthy of saving, and she showed him how to pray. She also gave him the only money she had on her at the time, a ten dollar bill, and told him not to spend it on liquor. He was hesitant to take the money, but she insisted, and he leaned over and kissed her on her cheek before leaving.

Now that is an amazing story to me. An old woman is held up at gun point, and she fends off the attacker not with a gun, not with pepper spray, but with Jesus. She used LOVE as a weapon against evil.

I didn’t know about this back in 2007. I didn’t have a blog back in 2007, but I’m retrograding an award here. I award Pauline Jacobi with the 2007 Badass of the Year Award.
